Original watercolour painting - March fly - Scaptia patula
An original watercolour painting of a March fly, Scaptia patula, an Australian native insect. Mat size is 10" x 12" inches (25.5cm x 30.5cm) so it can go straight into a standard sized frame. The image size (white area inside the mat) is 14cm x 19cm.
I love painting plants and insects, especially the latter as they are often overlooked. This March fly has a bad reputation because they do have quite a bite - but then I found out that only the females bite, they are looking for protein for their eggs - so they are just Mums doing the best they can for their babies! And look at those beautiful eyes! Painted in archival quality watercolour on Arches 300gsm watercolour paper.
Purchasing an unframed painting is an affordable way to obtain an original painting without the cost of posting the frame, and you can then choose your own style of frame to suit your taste and decor. Please note colours may be slightly different to what appears on your screen.
Price includes postage in Australia, by Australia Post.
